A finished deck and screened porch on a wooded Triangle lot

TriPoint Decks, by John Woodhouse

A local, family-run crew — which is exactly why the finish holds up.

TriPoint Decks is a father-and-daughter operation. John Woodhouse has been building decks and porches in the Triangle for more than fifteen years, and his daughter Taylor runs the projects day to day — so when you get a quote, you are talking to the people who will actually be standing in your backyard, not a call center. Homeowners describe them in review after review as an honest, reliable team that shows up on time and works fast.

We are licensed general contractors with an engineer on staff, and we handle the parts most people dread: pulling the permits, getting HOA approval, and coordinating our own crew — Roberto on construction, Michaele on scheduling — from the first consultation through the final inspection. You get one point of contact and a build that a Town of Cary inspector once told a client, unprompted, was in good hands.

Turn an old, open deck into a beautiful screened room you'll enjoy for years.

06

Deck Restoration & Replacement

Tear out a tired or unsafe deck and rebuild it to current best-practice design and code.

What it's built from

The materials, named — because the spec is where corners get cut.

Trex & TimberTech composite decking

TriPoint states they are a TrexPro Platinum installer — Trex's highest certification tier — and also build in the TimberTech Harvest Collection, so you get low-maintenance composite boards that resist fading, staining and rot for decades.

Pressure-treated & natural wood decks

For a warmer, traditional look at a friendlier price, we build classic pressure-treated and natural wood decks, detailed and fastened to hold up to Carolina summers and rain.

Screen systems & screen porches

Custom screen rooms and screened porches keep the mosquitoes and pollen out while the breeze comes through — installed with clean, durable screen systems (with Dean's Screens as our screen and window specialist).

Engineered footings & framing

With an engineer on staff, every deck and porch is framed and footed to current code — the structural work under the surface that decides whether a deck stays solid and level for years.

Roofing, ceilings & finishes

For porches and three-season rooms we handle the roof, tongue-and-groove or paneled ceilings, lighting and finishing so the space reads as a real room, not a lean-to.

Railings, stairs & lighting

Aluminum, composite or wood railings, custom stairs, and integrated deck and step lighting — the details our reviewers keep calling out as the things TriPoint thought of that others miss.

From the moment I spoke with the owner, John Woodhouse, he came to my house within a few days to provide a detailed quote. The entire tear-down and rebuild of our large deck was completed in only 4 days! John is honest, reliable, and leads a fantastic team of skilled professionals.

John and Taylor are a very knowledgeable father and daughter team. Roberto, Adrienne and the rest of their crew were also great to work with. They know how to build a quality deck and thought of many little details.

John came in and rescued us from a horrible situation with another builder who stole our money and ghosted us. An inspector from the Town of Cary showed up and told us, without being prompted, that we were in good hands because TriPoint does great work.

They tore down 2 old decks and built the new porch and deck in only 3 days! The craftsmanship is flawless. A special shout out to John and his partner Roberto, Michaele and Taylor.

How a build runs

Four clear stages, from first call to final inspection.

Consultation, custom design & estimate, permits & HOA approval, then construction and inspection. We pull the permits and run our own crew as one managed job — so you always know what happens next and who's doing it.
